Queen Ahmose-Nefertari

Nefertari had two brothers: Nakhtmin, who served as vizier under Amenhotep II; and Siamun, who became pharaoh after the death of his nephew Psusennes II.
Nefertari married Ahmose I while he was still the prince of Thebes. He became king in 1550 BC after defeating the Hyksos rulers in Avaris. Nefertari became his Great Royal Wife and played an important role in his reign. She accompanied him on military campaigns and took part in religious ceremonies. After Ahmose’s death in 1525 BC, their son Amenhotep I succeeded him as king.
