Tourism and Antiquities Minister, Khaled Anani, met on Sunday 30/8/2020 with the president of the federation of tourism companies in the Czech Republic and representatives of the major tour operators and airlines in the country.

The meeting came on the sideline of Anani visit to the Czech Republic to take part in the official inauguration to the “Kings of the Sun” exhibition in Prague.

During the meeting, Anani briefed the delegation on coronavirus-related protective and precautionary measures implemented by the Egyptian government to ensure the safety of the tourists and workers in the tourism sector.

Egypt reopened its airports on July 1 and began welcoming to beach resorts tourists in the Red Sea, South Sinai, and Matrouh governorates as a first phase.

Anani noted that cultural tourism is expected to be resumed as of September 1, and highlighted the richness of the tourist potentials that Egypt enjoys, which could appeal all the tourists on their distinct preferences.

He pointed out that the Red Sea resort cities of Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada have received 150 thousand tourists from Belarus, Switzerland, Ukraine, Hungary, and Serbia since July 1st, 2020.

He also underscored of the importance of the Czech tourist market to Egypt, describing it as promising, especially after around 300 thousand Czech tourists had paid visits to Egypt in 2019.
